Each summer the Charlie Brooks Memorial Peace Fountain is lifted by crane onto the Detroit River. This floating fountain, a popular summer attraction, is able to pump 12,000 gallons of water over 70 feet in the air every minute!
In fact, the fountain is one of North America’s largest and offers a variety of daily water “shows”; 150 lights illuminate the 20 minute water show, which runs daily until 11:00 pm, May through October. Make sure you bring your camera, as the fountain’s sprays are magnificent.
The fountain can be viewed at Coventry Gardens, on the Detroit River.
